This course is primarily designed to help students acquire linguistic skills for effective communication. It also intends to develop critical thinking and academic writing skills in the learner. The units of the course are organized in a manner to include prose, poetry, grammar, and phonetics to get a comprehensive understanding of the language. Moreover, the course has chapters on basic elements of academic writing which help the students to improve their writing by learning how to use a better word form, a better phrase, and a better sentence. Various models of writing are also discussed that will provide the students with critical insights to write formal letters, memos, notices, and circulars. In addition to imparting linguistic, academic writing, and critical thinking skills, the course also aims at improving the soft skills of the learner like decision-making, conflict resolution, leadership potential, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills.

In this paper we deal with Statistical methods and theory of estimation where Statistical methods are mathematical formulas, models, and techniques that are used in statistical analysis of raw research data. The application of statistical methods extracts information from research data and provides different ways to assess the robustness of research outputs. Estimation theory is a branch of statistics that deals with estimating the values of parameters based on measured empirical data that has a random component.
