COURSE OBJECTIVE: 

 Quality is the most significant characteristic of product or service in today’s world. This course introduces traditional and modern quality perspectives. To give the students an overview of quality and TQM and explaining the salient contributiors of Quality management like Deming, Juran and Crosby.

         About the Instructor

Ms. G. Chris Lenina Peters joined St. Mary’s College in June 2016. She has worked in several institutions, including as Assistant Professor at Women’s College, Koti. Besides academics, she spends her time in service of the underprivileged. She was awarded ‘Jewel of Telangana’ by Nexus Éclat Honors Society International, Kansas, USA. Her strong points are her positive attitude, dedication and commitment to her students. In addition to a Masters in English and MBA-HRM, she has a Bachelors in Christian Studies from Serampore University and also a Certificate of Proficiency in Spanish from English and Foreign Languages University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in English from Osmania University. As a researcher she is interested in Self-help literature, and African-American literature. She has presented and published papers in areas of her interest. She offers a Certificate Course in Conversational Spanish (Level-I) at St Mary’s College.

Course Summary

The course addresses the English language needs of the students at the undergraduate level. The focus will be upon seven categories: Prose, Poetry, Pronunciation, Vocabulary, Grammar,  to enhance the Speaking and Writing skills of students.  In addition to these, there is additional reading to supplement their conceptual and general knowledge of the contemporary world. There are a range of individual, pair and group activities that improve their practical communication which is useful in social and professional life. Overall the course will focus upon literary texts, language learning and practical application of language.

Course Objectives:

1. The students should acquire language comprehension and literary appreciation skills through poetry, prose, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary content. 

2.  The course should provide awareness about contemporary issues and an ability to critique and develop well informed perspectives on these issues.

Course Outcomes  

The students will be able to:

CO1: Get acquainted with literary movements like Romanticism.

CO2: Improve linguistic skills like reading, speaking, listening and writing skills (LSRW).

CO3: Speak the language better by improving pronunciation by learning phonetics.

CO4: Get equipped with note writing and note making skills.

CO5: Gain critical insights to write formal letters, memos, notices, and circulars.

The course will provide an overview of Human Resource Management with emphasis in Human resource Planning. It also emphasizes on the concepts of Training & Development & Performance appraisal in an organisation. It also helps in understanding the guidelines relating to labor management.
