Course Summary

 The main objective of this course is that students will understand the scientific process, in the context of learning the fundamental biological and chemical facts of molecular biology.

It also describes the molecular and cellular basis of the development and function of the immune system in states of health and disease. The course will provide the required framework for more advanced courses in Immunology


The course addresses the language needs of learners of English at the undergraduate level even as it acknowledges their critical thinking capabilities. The text is prepared in alignment with the CBCS English curriculum with an objective to enable youngsters to hone English language skills for the professional world. It includes two genres- prose and poetry for contextual language learning. As part of Prose, a popular speech is included along with a unit for gender sensitization to expose the students to various perspectives on gender issues in society. There is a whole unit dedicated to the writing of one's CV's.

Environmental biotechnology is about the balance between the applications that provide for these and the implications of manipulating genetic material.Textbooks address both the applications and implications. Environmental engineering texts addressing sewage treatment and biological principles are often now considered to be environmental biotechnology texts. 

The main objective of this course is to familiarize students with the fundamental concepts of drug discovery and development. The course is intended for students who have a background in chemistry and interested in the process of drug discovery. The intended outcome is to train students on various aspects of new drug discovery/development, drug screening, target identification, lead discovery, optimization and the molecular basis of drug design and drug action
