Course Description

The syllabus has been designed to develop linguistic and communicative competence of the Under-graduate students.

 

In the classes the focus is on the skills of Reading Writing, Listening and Speaking divided under the four categories of Prose, Poetry, Vocabulary and Grammar For this, the teacher uses the text /selected paragraphs pedagogy. 

The teachers also ask comprehension questions to stimulate discussion and based on the discussions the students are made to write short paragraphs /essays, participate in group discussions.

 

 

Course Outcomes:

 

The students will be able to:

CO1. Use new concepts, vocabulary, and with appropriate grammar and structure

CO2. Become more empathetic channelizing their ideas towards positive attitude and actions

CO3. Articulate with greater display of Speaking & Writing skills

CO4. Understand the relations between words and ideas

CO5. Develop interest in stories infused with moral purpose ( attitudes and understandings that are beyond our own immediate experience)

CO6. Engaging with simple to complex writings & for understanding complex lives.

CO7. Come out of their own skins and feel the experiences of others, by engaging in literatures while learning and understanding how times, cultural intentions and literary genres differ from one another.

CO8. Grasp the skills and theories of interpretation, with language and representation.

CO9. Listen, practice and hone English language skills to a great extent.

The Instructor is expected to

1. Share the Course Objective and the Unit Objectives with the students

2. Be on time to the classroom

3. Engage the students in enriching learning experience through facilitating, teaching, mentoring and counseling

4. Recapitulating, recalling and revising what is taught

5. Be mindful of the decorum and maintain composure throughout the session.

6. Be approachable to students for clarification of doubts

 

The Students are expected to (Guidelines on Classroom participation)

1. Come prepared to learn new concepts

2. Be in time to class

3. Respect Faculty and her/his peers

4. Usage of mobile phones only when required for subject purpose

5. No chewing gums in the classroom.

6. Come with the Textbooks the note book and the necessary stationery

7. Perform and submit the assigned tasks

8. Submit assignments on time
