Business Economics is designed to provide comprehensive understanding of economic concepts and principles which are useful in understanding the general economic environment within which businesses operate viz., demand analysis, supply analysis, production analysis and cost and revenue analysis.


Course Description:

Cost Accounting is 5 credit course with 65 sessions for the semester. Cost Accounting covers Cost Concepts, Methods and techniques, basic elements of cost like Material, Labour and overheads and Preparation of Cost Sheet.

Course Objective:

To make the students acquire the knowledge of cost accounting methods.

Course Outcomes:

CO 1 Perceive the essentials of good cost accounting system and classify various types of costs and able to prepare and present cost sheet.

CO 2 Compute material cost and acquaint knowledge on inventory control techniques and pricing methods of material issue

CO 3 Compute labor cost, familiarize with the methods of wage payment system and assess labor turnover

CO 4 Skillful in computation of process cost including ascertainment of normal loss and abnormal loss

CO 5 Compute profit of an incomplete contract, cost of contract and cost of work certified

ADVANCED ASPECTS OF INCOME TAX

This course provides knowledge about of income tax and provisions relating to computation of income from business or profession and other provisions relating to clubbing and aggregation of income. This imparts practical knowledge on computation of tax liability and assessment procedure.

Course Description:

The course addresses the English language needs of the students at the undergraduate level. The focus will be upon four categories: Prose, Poetry, Vocabulary, and Grammar.  In addition to these the last unit focuses upon developing the writing skills of students by including review writing. The content of the text raises questions of how English is used in India versus how it ought to be used and thus engaging the debates about a “standard English” and the need of adapting English to the local cadence and culture of India. Similarly, the British and American variations of the language are included to orient the students to broaden their view of English as an International language. Overall the course will focus upon the critical thinking faculties of the students concerning academic, linguistic, political, literary and ethical concepts.

The syllabus has been designed to develop linguistic and communicative competence of undergraduate students. The teachers also ask comprehension questions to stimulate discussion and based on the discussions the students are made to write short paragraphs /essays, participate in group discussions.

 Course Outcomes:

The students will be able to:

CO 1. Read and interpret and analyze the implicit and explicit layers of meaning embedded in a poem.

CO 2. Identify poetic devices and the uncommon use of language in poetry.

CO 3. Become more empathetic and question the various forms of discrimination that exist in society based upon caste, race, gender and culture etc.

CO 4. Engage enlightenment values (liberty, equality and fraternity) and the idea of the secular nation versus a various groups divided on the basis of region, caste, creed and language.

CO 5. Understand the need for the English to be adapted to the local cultural contexts of India.

CO 6. Learn and use, technical and media vocabulary, and the differences between the British and American variations of the English language.

CO 7. Improve language skills by learning how to frame questions, use verbs and conditionals.

CO 8. Develop better writing skills and become adept in organizing one’s thoughts and ideas to write essays.

Computerized Accounting involves using computers and accounting packages for recording storing and analyzing financial data.  Tally Software is a complete accounting, inventory, taxation and payroll software. It is one of the best and most commonly used software applicable for small business houses and big financial companies. Learning of computerized accounting makes the entire process of preparing financial accounts faster and simple. The Financial Statements and reports can be generated at the click of a button. It relives the accountants from routine and time consuming process of manual accounting. Financial Data processed through accounting software is easily accessible, accurate, reliable, cost effective and secure.

Course Objectives:

Learning Computerized accounting is imperative for students seeking jobs in accounts department of any company. It gives the learner the required skills to carry out range of day-to-day accounting activities. Learning Tally also makes it easy to adapt to any other package designed for accounting. By learning the advanced features of Tally related to Taxation and payroll the candidates will be eligible for the posts of (in Government & Private) Assistant Clerks in Tax Departments, Junior Accountants in Companies, Corporations and Boards. Audit Assistant in co-operative departments. Office Assistant/ Accounts Clerk/Accounts Assistant/ Assistant Commercial Tax Practitioner, assistant income tax practitioner, Data Entry Operator, Entry level accounts analyst in BPO.

CO2) The students will learn the procedure of transition of manual accounting to computerized accounting.

CO3) The student will gain the competence to perform all basic functions of accounting, store details and manage inventory items.

CO4) Students will be capable of using accounting software for business communication and accounting purposes.

CO5) Students will be able to account for purchases and inventory transactions (creating purchase orders, handling invoices, maintaining inventory control) using a computerized accounting software package.

CO6) Students will be able to account for customer and sales related events (maintaining and analyzing customer data, billing, bank deposits and accounts receivable) using a computerized accounting software package

CO7) Will be able to ascertain profits and Financial position of the organization.

CO8) Will be able to generate reports like Profit and Loss statement, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, Cash-flow report, etc. and facilitate in decision making.
