Advanced Accounting subject provides an in depth knowledge of accounting procedures for Partnership concerns and methods of accounting treatment for special transactions like admission, retirement, death or insolvency of a partner and also accounting procedure for dissolution of Partnership firm. It also gives an insight on dealing of corporate transactions like issue of shares and debentures, valuation of shares and goodwill and also deals with procedure of preparing Financial Statements of corporate entities as per Companies Act, 2013. It is a five credit course with 65 sessions.

Course Description:

The course addresses the English language needs of the students at the undergraduate level. The focus will be upon four categories: Prose, Poetry, Vocabulary, and Grammar.  In addition to these, the last two units focus on developing the writing skills of students by including essay writing and report writing. The content of the text raises questions of how English is used in India versus how it ought to be used and thus engaging the debates about “standard English” and the need of adapting English to the local cadence and culture of India. Similarly, the British and American variations of the language are included to orient the students to broaden their view of English as an International Language. Overall the course will focus upon the critical thinking faculties of the students concerning academic, linguistic, political, literary, and ethical concepts.

 

The syllabus has been designed to develop the linguistic and communicative competence of undergraduate students. The teachers also ask comprehension questions to stimulate discussion and based on the discussions the students are made to write short paragraphs /essays, participate in group discussions.    

Course Outcomes:

The students will be able to:

CO 1. Read and interpret and analyze the implicit and explicit layers of meaning embedded in a poem.

CO 2. Identify poetic devices and the uncommon use of language in poetry.

CO 3. Become more empathetic and question the various forms of discrimination that exist in society based upon caste, race, gender, and culture, etc.

CO 4. Engage enlightenment values (liberty, equality, and fraternity) and the idea of the secular nation versus various groups divided on the basis of region, caste, creed, and language.

CO 5. Understand the need for English to be adapted to the local cultural contexts of India.

CO 6. Develop interest in the debate whether art exists to serve some purpose or it is just for delight and enjoyment.

CO 7. Learn and use synonyms and antonyms, phrasal verbs, idioms, technical and media vocabulary, and the differences between the British and American variations of the English language.

CO 8. Improve language skills by learning about prepositions, connectives, concord, reported speech, and voice.

CO 9. Develop better writing skills and become adept in organizing one’s thoughts and ideas to write essays.

CO 10. Enhance their report writing skills to use in official contexts.


The Course

 Preparing the individual for entering the job market in all preparedness is the prime outcome of Higher Education. This course develops the professional skills required to venture into a successful career, by equipping students in career and team skills. Since an individual should be able to demonstrate intuitive, logical, critical thinking, communication and interpersonal skills, it becomes imperative for students to acquire these skills and be ready to face the competitive world outside.

 

Course Description

The Course Professional Skills is divided into two parts:

a)     Career Skills

b)    Team Skills

The Career Skills component empowers an individual to prepare an appropriate and effective Resume, prepares students to face interviews confidently and also to participate in Group Discussions. It also helps students to identify their innate strengths and weaknesses.

 The team skills component prepares students to strengthen their team skills. Collaborating and working together can assist in resolving complex problems, which allow individuals an opportunity to articulate new ideas and perspectives. It allows the learner to design, develop, problem solve and adapt to situations based on their experience and skills.

 

Course Outcomes:

 

At the end of this course the students will be able to:

·        CO1:Prepare their resume in an appropriate template without grammatical errors and using proper syntax.

·        CO2:Participate in a simulated interview.

·        CO3:Actively participate in group discussions towards gainful employment.

·        CO4: Capture a self-interview simulation video regarding the job role concerned.

·        CO5:Enlist the common errors generally made by candidates in an interview.

·        CO6:Perform appropriately and effectively in group discussions.

·        CO7:Explore sources (online/ offline) of career opportunities.

·        CO8: Identify career opportunities in consideration of their own potential and aspirations.

·        CO9: Use the necessary components required to prepare for a career in an identified occupation ( as a case study)

 

 


Course Objectives:

1. Develop the student’s ability to deal with numerical and quantitative issues in    business

2. Enable the students to the use of statistical, graphical and algebraic techniques 

Course Outcomes:

CO1:  Able to apply fundamental concepts in exploratory data analysis

CO3:  Determine the value of the mean, the median, and the mode of grouped and                  ungrouped data

CO4:  Apply measures of location for central value of the data about which all the set of            values of data lies

CO5: Knowledge of average of variation and dispersion of values

CO6:  Calculate and interpret the various measures dispersion skewness and Kurtosis

CO7:  Understand the relation between two variables by correlation

CO8:  Apply different methods to find the strength of a linear association between two            numerical variables



FINM 

Course Description(DSC) : FINM is a 5 credit course with 60 sessions for the semester and 5 for revision totaling to 65 sessions.

The course gives an overview to  familiarize with functioning of various Financial Institutions and Markets in India .

FIM course is designed to provide comprehensive understanding of Indian financial system and role of various financial institutions in economic development. This provides knowledge how money market differs from capital market and its instruments. Its gives an insight on evolution of corporate debt market in India and describes the role and functions of stock exchanges in development of equity culture.
