COURSE OBJECTIVES:

 

I. Inorganic chemistry: This course is designed to provide the key concepts in inorganic chemistry which includes lanthanide contraction- cause and consequences, Magnetic properties, coordination complexes, Coordination number and Isomerism in coordination compounds.

II. Organic Chemistry: The course is designed to provide concepts in organic chemistry which includes synthesis and properties of carboxylic acids, nitro compounds and amines.

III. Physical Chemistry: The course is designed to provide concepts in physical chemistry which includes Enthalpy, Entropy, Free energy Gibb’s function, Joule-Thompson coefficient Adiabatic changes in ideal gas.

IV. General Chemistry:

The course is designed to emphasise The course is designed to provide the basic concepts in physical chemistry which includes phase rule, phase diagrams, which also includes classification of errors in analysis and how to minimise those errors.

 

COURSE OUTCOMES:

Students will be able to

CO1: Explain the ligand field splitting of d-orbital in different complexes.

CO2: Understand the Isomerism in coordination compounds.

CO3: Learn the position of f-block elements in periodic table.

CO4: Analyse change in chemical reactions using first law of Thermodynamics.

CO5: Calculate change in kinetics, potential, Enthalpy and internal energy.

CO6: Classify the possible types of errors& analyse the experimental data with different parameters.

CO7: Understand the reactivity of carboxylic acids, nitro compounds and amines.

CO8: Recognise the mechanisms of different reactions.
