COURSE OBJECTIVE: 

§  To acquire basic knowledge in Information Technology and its applications

Unit II: Introduction To IS

ASSIGNMENT:

*      Students are instructed to give ppt presentation on the Topic assigned by Lecturer

*      The students will be asked to write a complete answer for two questions from each unit in A4 size papers.

Assignments to be submitted after the completion of 3rd unit.

GUIDELINES ON CLASS PARTICIPATION:

*      Students are requested to be in class before Lecturer comes into the class room

*      Late entries (After 5 Minutes) into the class are strictly prohibited.

 

ASSESSMENT SCHEDULE:

*      There will be 2 internal exams of 15 marks each and one Assignment of 5 marks.

*      Internal Exam Pattern: 10 MCQ type questions, 10 Fill in the blanks and 5 short answer type.

*      There will be a Pre-final exam of 80 marks at the end of the course.

 

Pre- final Pattern: For Short Answers Questions: need to answer 5 out of 8 Questions 5*4 =20, For Essay Questions: need to answer 5 questions (Internal Choice) 5*12=60;

Course Description:

 The course addresses the English language needs of the students at the undergraduate level and it also  acknowledges their critical thinking skills. The text exposes the students to a range of contexts where the language is used to meet a variety of real life communication needs, to give and seek information, to express opinions, and to engage with practical, emotional, intellectual and creative aspects of language by integrating knowledge and skills. The book emphasizes on the  use rather than the usage, on how the English language is used rather than how it should be used. Each chapter is organized in such a way that it creates a lot of involvement and encouragement to the learner.

 The syllabus has been designed to develop linguistic and communicative competence of undergraduate students. It includes four genres- Short fiction, prose, poetry and drama. The major part of of each lesson is devoted to remedial language learning which includes pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and pronunciation. The focus is on the skills of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking The teacher also asks questions to stimulate classroom discussion and based on these discussions the students will be made to write short paragraphs /essays, participate in group discussions as part of continuous assessment.

 Course Outcomes   

The students will be able to:

·        Read short fiction, identify the various elements of a short story and write their own stories.

·        Improve their pronunciation with the help of phonemic transcription.

·        Figure out the etymological origins of English words by learning Greek and Latin roots, prefixes and suffixes, and learn to spell correctly.

·        Distinguish the subtle differences in meaning  and articulation in homonyms, homographs & homophones

·        Learn different types of nouns, pronouns, auxiliary and main verbs.

·        Be acquainted with the rules of punctuation concerning capitalization, commas, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks.

·        Gain verbal competence in practicing how to introduce oneself in formal situation, describing one’s college and course of study, sustaining cordial conversations and leaving a voice mail.

·        Read passages about the local culture, practices, history and personages of Telangana.

·        Enhance their writing skills by learning how to draft paragraphs, sequencing sentences into coherent passages, describing something or someone in writing and writing a dialogue.

  • Hone their soft skills and imbibe valuable life lessons to steer their course of life.

 

 


COURSE OBJECTIVE: 

  Quality is the most significant characteristic of product or service in today’s world. This course introduces traditional and modern quality perspectives. To give the students an overview of quality and TQM and explaining the salient contributiors of Quality management like Deming, Juran and Crosby.

CO1:- Develop and understanding on Total Quality Management (TQM) philosophies and frameworks.

CO2:-Evaluate the principles of quality management and to explain how these principles can be applied within quality management systems.

CO3:- Identify the key aspects of the quality improvement cycle and to select and use appropriate tools and techniques for controlling, improving and measuring quality.

CO4:-Apply the basic concepts of statistics and probability to quality management and control.

SCOPE OF THE COURSE:

Covers basic financial concepts and practices and analytical framework for financial decision making. It covers both acquisitions of funds as well as their allocations. This course focus on how to arrange sufficient finances for meeting short-term and long-term needs. This course mainly concentrated on following areas

  Unit 1

Nature of Financial Management: Finance and relation with other disciplines; Scope of Financial Management; Profit Maximization, Wealth Maximization - Traditional and Modern Approach of FM; Functions of finance – Finance Decision, Investment Decision, Dividend Decision; Objectives of Financial Management; Organization of finance function

 

Unit 2

Concept of Time Value of Money, compounding, discounting, present value, future value, and annuity; capital budgeting –meaning, features; applications of discounting in capital budgeting –NPV, IRR, calculation of NPV and IRR

 

Unit 3

Sources of Long term finance- features of equity shares, preference shares, debentures, long term loans; Capital Structure – meaning, determinants of capital structure; cost of capital – component costs of capital, weighted average cost of capital; Dividend Policy Decision – types of dividend, determinants of dividend policy.

 

Unit 4

Working Capital Management: gross versus net working capital, determinants of working capital; Management of Cash - Preparation of Cash Budgets (Receipts and Payment Method only); Cash management technique (Lock box, concentration banking)

 

Unit 5

Receivables Management – Objectives; Credit Policy, Cash Discount, Debtors Outstanding and Ageing Analysis; Inventory Management (Very Briefly) - ABC Analysis; Minimum Level; Maximum Level; Reorder Level; Safety Stock; EOQ (Basic Model)

 

ASSIGNMENT:

·         Students are instructed to give PPT presentation on the topic assigned by Lecturer

·         The students will be asked to analyze short term and long term financial sources of a particular Company
