COURSE OBJECTIVE:
§ To acquire basic knowledge in Information Technology and its applications
§ To help students to understand the importance of IT in the Management and Business field.

Unit II: Introduction To IS
Definition of Data, Information & Knowledge, IS- MIS, DSS, Expert Systems–Types of IS- Operation, Tactical, Strategic IS- Executives Information Systems (EIS) – Definitions- Data Base, DBMS, Advantages & Disadvantages of DBMS-Ethical and Social Issues in IS.
Unit III: Multimedia Concepts
Definition of Multimedia- Multimedia devices-Multimedia Formats- Audio formats- Video formats.-Compression/ Decompression issues-.-Business Applications of Multimedia.
Unit IV. Internet & Security Issues

ASSIGNMENT:
Students are instructed to give ppt presentation on the
Topic assigned by Lecturer
The
students will be asked to write a complete answer for two questions from each
unit in A4 size papers.
Assignments to be submitted after the completion of 3rd unit.
GUIDELINES ON CLASS PARTICIPATION:
Students
are requested to be in class before Lecturer comes into the class room
Late
entries (After 5 Minutes) into the class are strictly prohibited.
ASSESSMENT SCHEDULE:
There will be 2 internal
exams of 15 marks each and one Assignment of 5 marks.
Internal Exam Pattern: 10
MCQ type questions, 10 Fill in the blanks and 5 short answer type.
There will be a Pre-final
exam of 80 marks at the end of the course.
Pre- final Pattern: For Short Answers Questions: need to answer 5 out of 8 Questions 5*4 =20, For Essay Questions: need to answer 5 questions (Internal Choice) 5*12=60;

SCOPE OF THE COURSE:
Covers basic financial concepts and practices and analytical framework for financial decision making. It covers both acquisitions of funds as well as their allocations. This course focus on how to arrange sufficient finances for meeting short-term and long-term needs. This course mainly concentrated on following areas

Unit 1
Nature of Financial Management: Finance and relation with other disciplines; Scope of Financial Management; Profit Maximization, Wealth Maximization - Traditional and Modern Approach of FM; Functions of finance – Finance Decision, Investment Decision, Dividend Decision; Objectives of Financial Management; Organization of finance function
Unit 2
Concept of Time Value of Money, compounding, discounting, present value, future value, and annuity; capital budgeting –meaning, features; applications of discounting in capital budgeting –NPV, IRR, calculation of NPV and IRR
Unit 3
Sources of Long term finance- features of equity shares, preference shares, debentures, long term loans; Capital Structure – meaning, determinants of capital structure; cost of capital – component costs of capital, weighted average cost of capital; Dividend Policy Decision – types of dividend, determinants of dividend policy.
Unit 4
Working Capital Management: gross versus net working capital, determinants of working capital; Management of Cash - Preparation of Cash Budgets (Receipts and Payment Method only); Cash management technique (Lock box, concentration banking)

Receivables Management – Objectives; Credit Policy, Cash Discount, Debtors Outstanding and Ageing Analysis; Inventory Management (Very Briefly) - ABC Analysis; Minimum Level; Maximum Level; Reorder Level; Safety Stock; EOQ (Basic Model)

COURSE OBJECTIVE:
To create awareness and motivation among UG learners about personality development in terms of their basic skills including goal setting and time management: To train the learners adequately by exposure to theory and practice pertaining to these skills.
COURSE OUTCOMES:

CO2: The students will be able to communicate more effectively without any mistakes.

SCOPE OF THE COURSE:
This course will broadly cover the Basics of English language including communication skills, Interpersonal skills and Speaking skills. This also includes personality development which covers all the aspects of personality like body language, emotional intelligence and team work etc. The following are the major areas divided in to two units.
UNIT - I: INTRODUCTION TO PERSONALITY
Introduction to Personality- Basic of Personality, Human Growth and Behavior, Theories in Personality, Motivation; Attitudes: Types of Attitudes, Formation – importance of positive attitudes – steps in developing positive attitudes
UNIT - II: COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP SKILL
Communication Skills – Definition, Significance of communication, disasters of non-communication, communication Gap, process of communication, forms of communication; listening skills, active and attentive listening, benefit of listening; Body Language, Right Posture and its importance – effects of right body language, Inter personal communication and relationships, leadership skills, team building and public speaking.
