BT1 - Cell Biology, Genetics & Biostatistics (2026-29)

Cell Biology and Genetics provides us the introduction to the field of cells and the basics of understanding the structure, functions, and role of each organelle/part present in the different organisms. It provides us the basics of genetics, starting with Mendel’s concepts and laws and their derivation from these concepts, which would help them to understand the concepts of molecular biology and other subjects related to genetics. This also provides the basics about the concepts and theorems of biostatistics, which would help the student while performing their research as well as to understand the concept of collecting biological samples and the processing of the data using statistical methods.

Chemistry I

This course provides a comprehensive foundation in inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, integrating theoretical concepts with practical laboratory skills. It explores the chemistry of p-block elements, reaction mechanisms of hydrocarbons, quantum mechanics, chemical kinetics, photochemistry, isomerism, colloids, and volumetric analysis. Students develop an understanding of chemical structure, bonding, reactivity, reaction kinetics, stereochemistry, and analytical techniques while strengthening their problem-solving abilities.

BC1: Chemistry of Biomolecules (26-27)

The main objective is to make students attain knowledge on types, structures and functions of fundamental biomolecules and their crucial role in biological system.

GENERAL ENGLISH SEM 1: Dr. SANGEETHA

This course is designed to meet the English language needs of undergraduate students, with a comprehensive focus on Prose, Poetry, Grammar, Vocabulary, Spelling, Pronunciation, and the core LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) skills. It integrates soft skills development and communication-focused activities in each unit to enhance verbal ability and interpersonal effectiveness. Emphasizing critical thinking, the course encourages students to engage with academic, literary, political, ethical, and linguistic concepts. Through a holistic learning approach, it aims to foster self-awareness, human values, inclusivity, and professional ethics, while equipping students with essential life and language skills for personal and academic growth.
