This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of psychology, exploring its historical foundations, major schools of thought, and contemporary approaches. Students will examine the scientific methods used in psychological research and understand the biological, cognitive, and emotional bases of behavior. Core topics include sensation and perception, attention, learning, memory, thinking, problem-solving, motivation, intelligence, and emotion. Through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and practical activities, the course equips students with foundational knowledge to understand human behavior and apply psychological principles to everyday life and future studies in the field.

The course focuses on building students’ command of English through an integrated study of literature and language. It develops reading and writing abilities alongside grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, and pronunciation, so students can use English more accurately and confidently in academic and everyday contexts. Along with language skills, the course encourages critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, and gender sensitivity through the selected literary texts. It also helps students strengthen communication skills, present ideas more effectively, and become more prepared for professional and social situations.

The course offers a theoretical overview of the concepts and theories associated with several aspects of communication and journalism. The primary aim is to study the linkages between Communication and Journalism. Navigating through communication models and theories it also allows the study of journalism and its role in society. The engagement is on the basis of dialogue and delivery while we explore the topics together through focussed lectures, readings, screenings & group discussions.
