The General English course addresses the language needs of the students at the undergraduate level. The focus will be on five categories: Poetry, Prose, Pronunciation, Vocabulary, and Grammar. In addition to these, the last two segments of each unit are centered on the reading, speaking, and writing skills of the students. Overall the course will focus on skills acquisition with an added emphasis on the critical thinking faculties of the students concerning academic, political, literary, and ethical concepts. The syllabus has been designed to improve the communication skills of undergraduate students as a part of a comprehensive and holistic development that includes ethical, societal, and cultural concerns.

This course provides students with practical skills in the capture and packaging of sound (voice and ambient sound) and image (moving images) in an online journalistic context. Future journalists will be expected to enter the profession with a 'grab bag' of skills across the written, visual and aural modes, and will also be required to be able to produce 'packaged' stories for publication on a variety of platforms. With a strong skills focus, this course provides students with hands-on experience with equipment for sound capture, image capture and online publishing. It will also expose students to deadline-driven tasks, set to emulate the intense and demanding working environment of multi-skilled journalists. Legal, professional and ethical issues in relation to broadcast journalistic practice will also be discussed.

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of Public Relations (PR) and Event Management, equipping students with the professional skills required to manage organizational communication and execute successful events.
In the Public Relations module, students learn the definition, nature, and scope of PR, and its role in shaping public opinion and building corporate image. The course covers the functions of a PR department and the responsibilities of a Public Relations Officer (PRO), emphasizing strategic PR planning and effective communication with internal and external publics. Learners explore practical tools of media relations such as press releases, newsletters, brochures, exhibitions, and digital communication, along with understanding community, customer, and corporate relations and the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in modern PR.
The Event Management module introduces students to the fundamentals of planning, designing, and organizing events of various scales—ranging from corporate meetings and sports events to weddings and social gatherings. Students gain insights into event logistics, budgeting, sponsorships, coordination, and vendor management. The course also familiarizes learners with legal and regulatory requirements, including licenses, permissions, and contracts essential for event execution

Course Description
The course English Fiction exposes the students to different sub genres of novel and also to the short stories. Unit 1 has various concepts in fictional narratives of the novel-- allegorical, gothic, historical, picaresque, epistolary and psychological. Unit 2 captures the journey of Robinson Crusoe, the savagery and selfishness of characters in Wuthering Heights is exposed in Unit 3, and the allegorical representation of the communist regime is brought forth through George Orwell's Animal Farm. Apart from the above mentioned novels, the two short stories in Unit 5 give the students wider scope to appreciate fiction and also gain insights of human behaviour and other notable tendencies.
The chosen texts can be used as a source for knowledge exchange to meet a variety of real life needs as they engage students to give and seek literary criticism, express opinions, engage with practical, emotional, intellectual and creative aspects of language by integrating knowledge and skills.
