Semester 3 of BA 2024-27 Batch

The course will help students learn the nuances of reporting, researching, investigating and writing a good copy. It helps students understand the process of gathering information and writing news. The topics of discussion keep students aware regarding various events happening around the globe generally and country specifically. The highlight of the course is that it helps the students not just to be industry ready but also employable in the field of media. The engagement is on the basis of dialogue and delivery while we explore the topics together through focussed lectures, readings, screenings & group discussions.

The course English Drama exposes the students to drama: its history, types and popular authors apart from the chosen plays. Unit 1 covers the evolution of drama in English, it’s different forms and the various theatrical aspects of different time periods.  Units 2-4 have 3 plays written by popular authors like William Shakespeare, R.B. Sheridan and George Bernard Shaw. Through the chosen plays students get to experience theatre and its aesthetics in all its nuances, and also traversing from the classics to the modern plays gives exposure to the different social conditions. Unit 5 deals with two One-Act plays that have elements of humour and realism. The chosen texts can be used as a pretext to meet a variety of real life  needs: give and seek literary criticism, express opinions, engage with practical, emotional, intellectual and creative aspects of language by integrating knowledge and skills.
