Course Title: Performance Appraisal and Counselling

Course Summary:

This course focuses on the principles, methods, and practices of performance appraisal and employee counselling in organizational settings. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to assess employee performance objectively and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement and development.


Course Overview:

This course provides a clear understanding of Organization Development (OD)—a planned approach to improving how organizations work and grow. Students will learn how to manage change using tools and strategies based on behavioral science. The course covers the basics of OD, including its meaning, values, and evolution. It introduces important models like Kurt Lewin’s and Burke–Litwin’s, focusing on systems thinking, teamwork, and participation. Students will explore the OD process, including change models and practical tools like the Six-Box Model. They will learn how to design, plan, and manage OD programs effectively. The course also teaches various intervention techniques, such as coaching, counseling, and team building. In the final part, students will see how OD is used in real organizations through topics like self-managed teams, quality circles, and high-performance systems.
