The General English course for Semester 6  - English Express caters to the needs of students who embark on

a new journey after their undergraduate studies. During the course of the previous

semesters, the students got exposure to experiential learning, especially with live projects

and campus interviews, and the English course prepares them to face these challenges. All

the texts in the coursework are carefully picked to enable them to gain pragmatic

experiences of life apart from exposing them to the apparent reflections of varied human

societies and cultures. The texts also enable them to think critically and comprehend the

implicit values they convey.


The course 'Contemporary World Literature' for Sem 6 brings forth themes of war , post-modernism, theatre of the absurd and globalization through the chosen literary texts.  The chosen texts through Units 1-5 can be used as a pretext to meet a variety of real life  needs: give and seek literary criticism, express opinions, engage with practical, emotional, intellectual and creative aspects of literature and language by integrating knowledge and skills. The course introduces the chosen themes that are contemporary and without limiting itself to certain geographical and familiar contours.

This course introduces students to the dynamic world of freelance journalism, emphasizing the art and craft of independent writing for newspapers, magazines, and online platforms. Students will learn to identify story ideas, plan and organize content, and refine their writing through effective drafting and editing techniques.

Through hands-on practice, learners will explore various forms of journalistic writing including news, features, columns, humor, and editorials. The course also trains students in content development for print and digital media, focusing on freelancing strategies such as topic selection, source identification, rewriting, and marketing articles to publications


This course offers an in-depth knowledge of advertising and the concepts related to it, focusing mainly on equipping the learners to learn, understand, and process the core idea of advertising, importance of visual media in advertising, and its relevance with the current market. The structure of the course is designed in a manner that allows the learners to get an overview of advertising as a platform to pursue higher studies in it.
